We have good news for people from almost all European Union: Belgium, Germany, Italy, Luxemburg, the Netherlands, France, Greece, Portugal, Spain, Austria, Finland, Sweden, Hungary, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Bulgaria, and Romania. For these counties we have right to prepare the invitation letters from our Organization (not from the migration-visa-office). That means we safe more than a month! So if there is anybody from these countries go ahead and apply for July course! We will have enough time to get Russian visa. People from other countries can apply for August or September course anyway :)

The idea of communicating with Russian volunteers is good! I am very happy I met such nice people. The organization and administration was just excellent! I am very happy that I came in Petrozavodsk. I would recommend the program for other foreign students if you want to learn a lot not only about Russian language but Russian culture and people as well!”

Anke Harnisch, 22, Germany: “The studying process was excellent. I learned a lot of new Russian words and topics. Both my Russian teachers were great! They always asked me if I had any wishes and all classes were very diverse. My family was also great, though I’m not used to live in a family at all. But they were excellent! Russian volunteers were young and nice and very helpful. I surely would recommend Russian language program in Karelia to other students just because it was the best summer course I’ve ever had!”

Ivana Vilovic, 24, Croatia: “The studying was good – I don’t have any complaints about that. Our host mother was great. We loved her activity. I felt very free to communicate with her. Holly Myers, USA: “The Russian language course was excellent! Veronika always found exactly the grammar we requested. The language course was a perfect combination of grammar rules, exercises, and interesting conversation topics with reading that commonly related to current grammar topics. I couldn’t ask for a better teacher. Veronika was patient, fun, extremely smart and good at explaining unknown vocabulary or new grammar, and more responsive to our needs than any other Russian teacher I’ve ever had. We had everything a student could want – a variety of exercises from different books that Veronika composed herself, serious explanations of grammar, real Russian literature, interesting nonfiction to read including news articles, films to watch at home, and even great cartoons that were fun and related to grammar and conversation topics.
My Russian host family was also great! The location was perfect, my room was perfect and beautiful like a story book – with icons on the wall and samovars above the door, a big window overlooking the lake, a big comfortable, real bed, a desk, even a TV! I even had access to Nadezhda and Ivan’s room to watch DVDs. And I ate delicious Russian soup every day!
I’m very glad I had the opportunity to visit Kizhi, Valaam and other excursions. I enjoyed all trips and loved all of the tours in Russian (very good practice!).
All Russian volunteers were nice and helpful. I’m sure you should develop that practice”.

Kathleen Thompson, USA: "The Russian language course was tailored to my needs on a daily basis. I liked both my teachers. I wish I could take Veronika back home with me. I liked the wide variety of sources – different textbooks, Internet articles, materials the teachers put together themselves, various films and cartoons.
My host family was really good. The location was fantastic! I had everything I needed. I have no complaints. The cultural program was good. All the excursions worth money paid!
I am really glad I came here. Petrozavodsk is a lovely city with a lot to offer and this program really helps students experience it”.

Alix Willemez, 22, France: “My general impression of the language program in Petrozavodsk is excellent!!! My teachers Vera and Zenya tried hard to teach me what I wanted. They were very nice and patient. I wish there were more Russian in classes; grammar is the one to be explained in English. Anyway all classes were well-prepared. The tutors-volunteers were all very nice! The administrators did a great job - especially Dasha! My host mum was really good, I just wanted to ask her not to feed me that much ;-) All excursions were also pleasant. Trip to Kizhi was excellent! Rafting was great - we had much fun! I would recommend this program for everyone. Because it is much cheaper than in big Russian cities, at the same time in such small town as Petrozavodsk you will feel a real atmosphere of Russia.”

Kari Martti Kiviniemi, 29, Finland: “Russian language course was great. I’ve got everything even more than I expected! Ksenia was amazing; she found out all my needs and very clearly explained everything! Thank you that I had an honor to study with her! Next time I would like to have the same teacher. All can be put in 1 week was very useful. My host mum Rita was super. I hope all other students get the same kind of family! I was on excursion on the Kizhi island and it was in Russian, so I didn’t understand a lot! I would like to thank Russian volunteers - they are very motivated young people. And of course Dasha did a great job! I am very satisfied with the program. All went better 200 % over my expectation! I’m not only going to recommend this program to everyone - I want to advertise it!”

Mona Bue, Norway: “The Russian language school “Discover Russia” is very professional and the environment is positive and youthful. I learned quite a lot grammar, which is good for my further language education. I chose staying with the apartment. I was very satisfied with it. It had a central location in the city and it had an ok standard. I really enjoyed the rafting trip, lots of fun and very cool guides! The trip to Kizhi Island was the best! Not too far to travel, very nice guide and a beautiful museum”.

Petr Turyna, the Czech republic: “The Russian language course was ok, because we could choose what we wanted to talk about. I have to say I could hardly have better teacher than Maria Muravjova – I especially appreciated that she was a history teacher so we could talk about everything I wanted. This way I learned more than just Russian which was exactly what I wanted. It is still cheaper than similar programs in bigger cities. Petrozavodsk itself is somehow more interesting than St. Petersburg. It is quiet, not that crowded and busy city etc. I would say its perfect Russian language program for the first visit in Russia – you can learn all you need in a friendly atmosphere”.

My hostess family was really nice, so there were no problems with living. Trips to Valaam and Kizhi were excellent, though we all were really tired. And I consider the basic idea of cultural program was good. My Russian teachers were really friendly. Unfortunately sometimes we had problems with understanding the words in Russia and teachers did not explain it in English. I felt very welcomed and loved in my hostess family. I liked Petrozavodsk and the Onego lake. I think our guides were very interested in showing us the places they know.
