KareliaApril - it's high time to win the SCHOLARSHIP!04/26 2010
04/26/10 We have good news for you! Now you may read the essays that have won the scholarships for studying Russian at the School “Enjoy Russian” at our site. This summer we are waiting here in Petrozavodsk not only for the four winners but also for the authors of the number of wonderful compositions who got the chance to study Russian at our courses with the discount! Their essays will be available at our site a bit later so keep informed!
Last week was the last one for Marisa, James and our English language teacher Panaiotis to spend in Petrozavodsk. We miss these cheerful nice lively people. Everyone has become very close and dear for us. All Panaiotis’s students can’t believe that their favorite teacher has gone. But he promised to come back next year. We all will be waiting for him. ![]() By the way, you may read the feedback of our students about staying and studying in Russia at our site in the section “Our Students Say” that is updated regularly. Soon you also may read Panaiotis’s impressions about working in Russia. We appreciate the positive experience we got working with Panaiotis and are determined to continue cooperating with foreign teachers, so a new English teacher from the UK will come to work with us this summer. ![]() And today one more student has come to our Russian language school! It is Anke from Germany. She’ll spend here 2 weeks that she definitely won’t forget! Anke is great in Russian! It seems to be a great pleasure to chat with her. She likes traveling and theatres and is already eager to see everything in Petrozavodsk and enjoy as much as possible during her Russian vacation. 04/19/10
Hurrah! We got the results of the scholarship competition of the Russian language school “Enjoy Russian”! Ready?
Before we name our winners, we must admit that all the essays were great (we have got more than 30 essays)! The jury couldn’t decide, there even were arguments of who was better. The decision was really hard! That’s why we decided to offer 4 scholarships (previous years we offered only 2 winners): two for studying in July and two in August. Now the winners will come to Petrozavodsk and the scholarship gives them the opportunity to cover the cost of the tuition for the Russian language course at “Enjoy Russian” language school in July or August. We are eager to get to know them: these high motivated and enthusiastic people in Petrozavodsk (the capital city of Republic Karelia)! So the winners are:
For July Russian course: Jonathan Bridges, the UK. His essay was “Íàáëþäåíèÿ è ïðèêëþ÷åíèÿ àíãëè÷àíèíà â Ðîññèè” (“Observations and adventures of an Englishman in Russia”). Petra Steigerova, Check Republic. She has written an essay “Russia = mafia, vodka and ìàòð¸øêà” For August Russian course: Manuela Spagnol, France. Her essay was “How I came to be passionate about Russia and Russian language” Veronika Vresko, Croatia. The topic of her essay was “Russia – what does it mean to me?” Our congratulations, dear Jonathan, Petra, Manuela and Veronika!
Their essay will be available at our site in a few days in the section Useful info!
We also are eager to thank all the participants of this competition.
We are glad to offer you the discount for studying Russian at our school in July or August 2010!!!
![]() Russian language school “Enjoy Russian” is very concerned of the quality of teaching that’s why we offer special courses for teachers who would like to work with foreign students. All of them have already the higher education, but teachers at our school should be not only professionals, but also very creative and enthusiastic specialists! We are eager to tell you that last week the first group of new Russian language teachers finished their studies and got their certificates. They are already waiting for the students coming in summer! This week the second group of teachers starts their studies. So those who are going to our School will have a versatile choice of teachers!
![]() This week is the last one to spend in Petrozavodsk for Marisa and James. For us it’s very sad to say good bye to them. Marisa has spent 3 months with us! Fancy that! She must be a master in Russian! She is a good student and has succeeded much in learning it. Her progress in Russian is evident!!!
![]() But we have good news as well! On Sunday a new student is coming to Petrozavodsk to improve her skills with “Enjoy Russian”. We are looking forward to welcoming Anke in our beautiful town. 04/12/10
We are glad to say that we have got plenty of scholarship essays! It will be exciting for our jury to read all of them and choose the only one that is worth the prize of the School “Enjoy Russian”. You still have the chance to take part in the competition, so don’t hesitate and send your compositions to us till today’s midnight! And keep informed! The results of the competition will be at our website on the 19th of April!
Saturday was an unusual day for the whole “Centre “Initiative” our Russian language school belongs to. The event “Malta Fest” we had been preparing for the whole month took place in one of the most popular night clubs of Petrozavodsk “Territoria”. There were a lot of bright colors, dancing music, amusing activities, plenty of presents…Everyone was dancing in Malta beads and the club looked very joyful and festive like the real Malta Carnival!
![]() Our sponsors and partners were perfect! The art-studio “Imperia Vozdushnyh Sharov” (“Empire of Baloons”) decorated everything around with colorful ballons. The fitness-club “Fitnes Tochka” (“Fitness Spot”) showed an inflammatory dance and all the audience tried their best to catch up the rhythm. Plenty of contests were devoted to Malta so it was a great chance for the guests to find out many interesting facts about this sunny friendly Mediterranean country.
![]() The wine boutique “La Cave” organized degustation of piquant wines in the hall of “Territoria”; there in the hall there also were various contests for instance, playing darts, throwing paper planes into the target, etc. Everyone got wonderful presents from the jeans shop “LTB” and the suntan studio “Solntse Plus” (“Sun Plus”). We are full of impressions and are eager to organize new parties!
![]() Today a new student has come to our Russian language school! His name is James; he is from Ireland and is working in Moscow as a journalist of the channel “Russia Today”. He will spend here in Petrozavodsk two fascinating weeks! We hope Marisa won’t feel bored as James seems to be very funny and bubbly. He is the right person to spent time with.
But unfortunately, today is the last day Ashley is spending in our town. She is great in Russian! And we’ll miss her very much!

We remind you the topics of the essays:
1. “Adventures of foreigners in Russia: humor story about your traveling around Russia”,

![]() Yesterday we celebrated a great holiday. That was Easter; so we colored eggs, cooked Easter cakes, visited our friends and relatives and congratulated each other: “Christ has revived” (“Hristos voskres”) and answered “Indeed has he revived” (“Voistinu voskres”). ![]() The students in the Russian language school Enjoy Russian are happy to see the Russian spring that has come at last! Now there are much more opportunities to spend the time outdoors; it’s warm and sunny. Marisa was invited by Anni, our former student, to spend the weekends at her place in Finland. We hope the girls are having great time together. It is so great that girls became real friends after they had met each other at our Russian language course. Only a week is left till a big event “Malta Fest”! We all are very nervous and busy with last preparations. We’ll share our impressions last week! It’s a fun to be in Petrozavodsk! |
