A new student Lauri came from Finland to take the intensive Russian language course during this week. He’ll also take part in a great cultural program: excursion around Petrozavodsk with Russian volunteers, going to real Russian banya and visiting the Kizhi island. The Kizhi island is t thought to be a symbol of Karelia, well-known not only in Russia but all over the world. It’s an open air museum of Karelian ancient wooden architecture. The island is situated in the middle of the Onego lake. You can there only by boat. The tourists can visit the beautiful island and enjoy the fantastic views only in Summer. Fortunately, the tourist season has already started. Our students are eager to see the famous Karelian wonder! 05/08/09
Spring is in Petrozavodsk! The sun is shining, the birds are singing and green leaves are appearing on the trees. Together with spring in our city came Nicolas from France! He is staying in one of the best our families – Cherneckie. He was already going around the city several times, enjoyed Karelia’s nature at the picnic and visited a famous Karelia painter’s exhibition. Yesterday he took an active part in presentation about Russia and Karelia, which was made by active, smart and kind Russian student-volunteers! Taking part in individual Russian course shows already the progress in his Russian language =). Today Nicolas with Russian student-volunteers is going to the bowling club to spend Friday’s evening greatly. And tomorrow there is a big holiday in Russia Victory Day! There will be lots of attractive activities in the main streets of Petrozavodsk and Nicolas has a perfect chance to enjoy them.
